Alice B and me

I just received word that I have been allocated an Alice B Reader Lavender Certificate, and I am really thrilled. What a lovely gesture of support and encouragement.

On their site, the Alice B Committee explain –
The Lavender Certificate: This award is given to an author who, in the committee’s opinion, has written the best “maiden” or first novel in the previous year.

This year I share it with Del Robertson. An added bonus for me as I am a fan of her work.

The Committee also awards The Alice B Medal: This award is given annually to living writers who have careers distinguished by consistently well-written stories about lesbians. The award is given once only, in appreciation of career achievement.

As you can guess this reads like a Who’s Who of lesfic, the only drawback being you have to be alive to be awarded. However, after nomination you are free to do whatever you want.
As a newbie this is a wonderful body of authors to be associated with. So, once again I would like to sincerely thank the Alice B Reader Committee for their matronage, and congratulate all the other awardees both past and present.
